Engineering

At its core, engineering is the art and science of applying mathematical and scientific principles to create solutions to real-world problems. It’s the driving force behind everything from the tallest skyscrapers to the smallest microchips. Engineers are the ultimate problem solvers. They tackle challenges ranging from designing sustainable infrastructure to developing life-saving medical devices. There are several different branches of engineering to choose from. The main branches are electrical, mechanical, chemical and civil engineering. Systems engineering and Industrial engineering focus on the design, analysis and optimization of different types of complex systems. Other types of engineering such as environmental and biomedical engineering concentrate on a specific functional area or industry. Click below to learn about the four major branches.
